Happy Holidays! The following are important updates as your first semester in the Ed.D. program comes to a close:
Spring Registration
I have sent out both your registration memo and booklist for the spring 2012 semester. Please feel free to contact me if you need another copy of either document. The last day to register and settle your bill for the spring semester without a late fee is Friday, January 6th, 2012. Classes begin the week of January 9th.
Concentration Information Session
The Concentration Information Session will be on Monday, January 9th, 2012 from 4:00-6:00pm on the University Park Campus. Location TBD. At this event, faculty from all four concentrations will be discussing the concentration classes, career paths, and various other topics related to their concentrations. A student panel will also be able to answer your questions about the concentration courses. After this event, all students will be asked to confirm their concentrations or request a switch via Survey Link. Please be aware that if you decide to switch concentrations, your request must be approved by the concentration chair. The Ed.D. Office will send an e-mail update once a room has been confirmed.
Preliminary Review
Please Save Copies of Your Final Papers An important procedural component of the Ed.D. Program is the doctoral screening process called the preliminary review. As mentioned at Orientation and in the 2011-2012 USC Catalogue (page 555), all doctoral students undergo the preliminary review and all students must pass the doctoral screening prior to completing 21 units in order to continue in the program. Please save the final papers from each of your core courses with your instructor’s comments as part of the preliminary review process. If you do not receive your final paper with the instructor’s feedback you can submit a clean copy of your final paper. The preliminary review process will be conducted prior to the summer 2012 semester.
Please be aware that the university will be closed on November 24th and 25th to observe the Thanksgiving holiday. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions.
