Dear Cohort of 2011,
Congratulations on completing your first semester in the Ed.D. program! The following are a few reminders as you prepare for the spring 2012 semester.
Fall 2011 Grades
I know that many of you will be eager to see your fall grades at the end of the semester. Your official grades may not be visible on OASIS until after the University’s final grading period has ended on December 20 so you may want to ask your instructor whether s/he will also distribute grades through Blackboard.
Spring 2012 Registration
The last day to register and settle your bill for the spring semester without a late fee is Friday, January 6th, 2012. You can confirm your registration or check to see if you have any holds on your account via OASIS: https://camel2.usc.edu/OASIS/Login.aspx
Classes for the spring semester begin the week of January 9th, 2012. Based on the Student Financial Services website the Cashier’s office will begin issuing spring refunds on January 5th, 2012.
Concentration Selection Event
At the Concentration Selection Event on Monday, January 9th, 2012 first year students are invited to learn more about each concentration from a faculty member. Faculty will be discussing the five concentration classes, career paths and associations and journals students in that concentration should participate in. After the event I will be sending a survey to all students asking them to confirm their concentration or request to switch concentrations. All change of concentration requests must be approved by the faculty chair of the requested concentration. Students will be taking their first concentration class in the summer 2012 semester. The event will be from 4:00-6:00pm and students do not need to RSVP. The location is WPH 403.
Summer 2012
In the summer semester you will be taking your first concentration class and EDUC 532: Inquiry Methods I. The summer semester is twelve weeks long, which is broken up into 2 six week sessions. In the first six week summer session you will be taking your first concentration class. Weekday classes will meet once a week from 4:00-10:15p.m. for six weeks. Please be aware that the K-12 concentration is the only concentration that will have a weekend option in addition to weekday options. In the second summer session all students in the cohort of 2011 will be taking EDUC 532: Inquiry Methods I. The Ed.D. office is planning to offer weekday sections as well as a Los Angeles and Orange County weekend option.
I hope you have a wonderful Winter break. Please be aware the university will be closed from December 26th-January 2nd, 2012. Our office will reopen on Tuesday, January 3rd, 2012.
Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions.
Happy Holidays!
