Important Library Updates, April 2021

Reservations are now available for limited-capacity study sessions in some libraries and research with archives and special collections in Doheny Library. Study spaces are available at Leavey Library, Science & Engineering Library and the Norris Medical Library. Reservations are required. Doheny will be open for study space reservations on April 15. For more information on hours and making reservations, visit: Spring 2021 at USC Libraries.  Other useful information as we head into finals:  Access to the library's circulating collections are still being provided through home delivery. Chat or email with a librarian are available through Ask A Librarian.  USC Libraries' Research Guides provide subject or topic-specific online resources including recommended article databases.  Writing consultations are available through the USC Writing Center. All library resources and information can be accessed through the home page of USC Libraries.   Spring 2021 Workshop Recordings Recordings of all workshops held by the Social & Behavioral Sciences Librarians are now available to view on our group's YouTube channel. Workshops covered many topics including annotated bibliographies, RefWorks and advanced searching strategies to locate articles. Annotated Bibliographies

Attendees will learn about annotated bibliographies, including various types of annotations and how they contribute to understanding a research problem. We will learn strategies for developing analytical and evaluative annotations, and use the APA 7th edition guidelines to format an annotated bibliography. 

This workshop will be conducted via Zoom and recorded. After registration, you will receive the link to attend. You will receive a reminder 3 hours before the workshop.

Weekly COVID-19 vaccination on campus (Week of August 16-20)

COVID-19 vaccinations are available this week at the Lyon Center (2^nd floor) on the UPC campus, as follows:

• MONDAY, AUG. 16 - FRIDAY, AUG. 20, 2021 (8 am – 4 pm)

Note: If you have had a vaccine within the past 14 days; or if you a currently recovering from COVID-19, you should not take a vaccination appointment at this time.

Walk-ins will be accommodated between 9 am – 2 pm daily during clinic days.

KCLC Welcome Back Events and Resources

Are you looking for assistance on how to best adjust to the return to campus, improve your social skills, cultivate time management skills, and alleviate stress? Come to our workshops and Drop-in hours hosted by the USC Kortschak Center for Learning and Creativity. No reservation or appointment is required for our general workshops and drop-ins.

KCLC will be hosting Welcome Week workshops on Returning to Campus and Time Management. Starting in September, the workshops will have a weekly theme of time management, reading strategies, stress management or test-taking. The workshops will be interactive with great tips and resources.

We are also piloting a new in-person workshop series titled, “Back to SChool Connections” where you can practice communication skills that can help you succeed as a Trojan both in and out of the classroom. This workshop will require a reservation.

The Drop-in hours, where you can meet with an academic coach to discuss learning strategies will start the second full week of the semester Monday-Friday. Please note: these may be held in a group format depending on staff availability and demand.
