Hello colleagues,
Save the date and please forward far and wide!
For GIS day this year we are partnering with our cross town rivals at UCLA to bring you the first ever Battle of the Maps!
On the heels of numerous successful humanitarian map-a-thon events across the country (including here at USC) we will be holding a joint map-a-thon event with UCLA where we will be working together (and competing against them!) on a humanitarian mapping project.
When: 10:00am - 1:30pm November 15th, 2017
Where: Leavey Library, 3rd Floor in the Polymathic Lab
Website: http://bit.ly/uscmapathon
RSVP: http://bit.ly/uscrsvp1
Food will be provided.
Hope to see you there!
After the event everyone is invited to a talk by senior service hydrologist Jayme Laber from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's (NOAA) National Weather Service at Mudd Hall. More info on that event here - https://spatial.usc.edu/index.php/events/gis-day-2017/

The Rossier School of Education and USC’s Center for Scholarly Technology invite you to attend our first “Best Teaching Practices to Engage Your Students Using Web 2.0 Tools” Pecha Kucha luncheon between Noon and 2:00 PM this Friday, February 4th in WPH 403.
If you have not heard of Pecha Kucha, it is a presentation methodology where each presenter uses only 20 PowerPoint slides with each slide being displayed for only 20 seconds. This means that each presentation at this luncheon will last only 6 minutes and 40 seconds, affording you the opportunity to learn about several new technology-enhanced teaching tools and techniques in a brief period of time.
Space is limited. To RSVP for the face-to-face luncheon, or if you cannot make it to campus on the 4th but would like to RSVP for the online webcast of the Pecha Kucha presentations, please visit http://cst.usc.edu/events/rsvp.html. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Brandon Martinez at either [email protected] or (213) 740-3827.
